International cooperation

Maritime activities are by nature an international matter. Ships from all the corners of the world sail between the continents and provide us with goods and transportation possibilities.  Over 90% of all goods are transported by sea. Our society is therefore dependent on an efficient transport system.

We are not alone. Cross border cooperation is necessary to create safe conditions at sea for both humans and the environment.

The Danish Maritime Safety Administration’s international goal
The Danish Maritime Safety Administration’s mission and vision is to ensure that we have the safest waters in the world. To achieve this we need cross-border cooperation. Therefore, the Danish Maritime Safety Administration is involved in and leads international projects that we consider to be important in relation to creating results in maritime safety, locally and globally.

Examples of international cooperation
Vessel Traffic Service, which monitors the narrow and busy Øresund, is an example of an international cooperation with both Swedish and Danish crews.

Another promising cross-national project is EfficienSea.
