Access to land-based AIS
The Danish Maritime Safety Administration is responsible for land-based AIS data in Denmark. Parties with interests in the maritime sector who have an operational need may be given access to the data.
In order to gain access, an application must be sent, explaining the operational need for land-based AIS data.
Each application for access to AIS data will be considered individually.
Which land-based AIS data is it possible to access?
Authorities like the Danish Maritime Authority and Admiral Danish Fleet may have unlimited access to AIS data free of charge.
All others are allowed only limited access, which must be paid for. For instance, harbour authorities may purchase access to AIS data from ships whose destination is the harbour in question, and data from the harbour area and within a radius of approximately 50 nautical miles from it. Shipping companies may buy access to AIS data from their own ships.
